From 01/01/2025 there is a new campus contract between the LUH, represented by the LUIS, and the ESRI Deutschland GmbH.
The previous national contract on the GWDG expires on 12/31/2024.
What changes:

ArcGIS Pro replaces ArcGIS Desktop. In the future, ArcGIS Pro including all available extensions will be the only major application of the ESRI portfolio.

The provision of single-site licenses via license files and network licenses via our license server will be discontinued. These licenses will no longer be available or cannot be renewed as of January 1, 2025.

Access to the application is provided exclusively as a Named User via WebSSO through the ArcGIS Online Portal and is now available to all LUH employees and students who have not yet had an account on the portal. ArcGIS Pro can then be downloaded via the ArcGIS online account.

Best of all, use is free for all members of LUH. LUIS will cover the costs. All internal license agreements are terminated and expire on December 31, 2024.
What remains:

The license scope of ArcGIS Pro remains unchanged and includes all past and future extensions.

The license term continues from 01.01 to 31.12 of each year and is renewed annually.

There will still be free credits for application usage that will be automatically assigned to each account.

With ESRI Access, you can still access the complete ESRI eLearning Academy via myESRI.
What is there for users and persons responsible to do:
All contacts in the previous release agreements were informed directly by email about the steps to take, for example, to migrate data from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Pro or to change the license type. They were also asked to pass this information on to all users in the facilities immediately and as a matter of urgency. Please check internally first for more information.
